　　Autumn begins is the 13th throttle in 24 solar terms, August 7, 8 or 9, beginning of Autumn. "Autumn" means to heat to cold, means the beginning of autumn. 　　立秋(Autumn begins)，是二十四節(jié)氣中的第13個節(jié)氣，每年8月7、8或9日立秋。“秋”就是指暑去涼來，意味著秋天的開始。到了立秋，梧桐樹必定開始落葉，因此才有“落一葉而知秋”的成語。從文字角度來看，“秋”字由禾與火字組成，是禾谷成熟的意思。立秋是秋季的第一個節(jié)氣，而秋季又是由熱轉(zhuǎn)涼，再由涼轉(zhuǎn)寒的過渡性季節(jié)。

　　貼秋膘

　　民間流行在立秋這天以懸秤稱人，將體重與立夏時對比。因為人到夏天，本就沒有什么胃口，飯食清淡簡單，兩三個月下來，體重大都要減少一點。秋風一起，胃口大開，想吃點好的，增加一點營養(yǎng)，補償夏天的損失，補的辦法就是“貼秋膘”：在立秋這天各種各樣的肉，燉肉烤肉紅燒肉等等，“以肉貼膘”。
